I am a traveller. More specifically, a solo female traveller. Do you know what this means? It means that I see a lot of really cool places around the world. But being a solo traveller, it also means that I have no one to take my photo.

Pictures of places and things are really great and all, but I want to be IN my photos.

I’ve never been one to take a good selfie. Is there really such a thing as a ‘good selfie’? I didn’t think so.

So the question remains – how do I take great solo travel photos?

Sure, I could ask other travellers or locals. But let’s be honest, in today’s world, as a solo female backpacker, it’s a bit nerve wracking handing over an expensive camera or phone to a complete stranger, in hopes of maybe getting a photo you like.

That isn’t blurry.

That doesn’t cut off your head.

That doesn’t include the kind stranger’s thumb.

Or that isn’t of the stranger themselves, because they didn’t know how to turn the camera around.

Now that I think about it, there’s a lot of really bad photographers out there!

Enter the best selfie stick I’ve come across to date! The BlitzWolf BW-BS3It’s a Bluetooth selfie stick. It’s a travel tripod.

Obviously, it’s my favourite travel gadget and I’ll never take another trip without it.

My new best friend is a lightweight but sturdy little device, weighing in at less than half a pound, and is about the length of a standard water bottle.

That means I can toss this selfie stick tripod into my bag before heading out for the day, without worrying about being weighed down by bulky equipment.

Considering I like to travel light, this is a big plus!

For those backpackers who love taking phones alone and like the idea of a selfie stick, the Blitzwolf extends to almost two feet.

So, gone are the days of close up forehead photos, as hilarious as they may have been.

Another thing I love about this travel device is that it’s universal enough to hold most phones that are in the 3.5” – 6” size range.

Can’t decide on landscape or portrait photos? Not to worry, the clamp of this travel tripod swivels in almost any direction, so you can take both and decide later which photos are the best ones to post on social media.

Since I’m on the topic of the phone clamp, I’ll also mention another cool feature of this mini tripod – the phone clamp itself is made of a non slip rubber.

What does that mean?

It means that you don’t have to worry about any damage to your phone when mounting and unmounting it in the travel tripod’s phone cradle.

On top of that, you don’t have to worry about your phone slipping out of the holder. Because it won’t.

As a mini tripod, this selfie stick is very easy to set up. The feet have rubber soles for extra stability, which definitely comes in handy on uneven surfaces.

Think about those cobblestone streets in Europe, or the summit of a volcano in Guatemala. I’ve used it for both, and every scenario in between, and have zero complaints!

The remote is very compact and can be hidden in the smallest of hands. I’m one such person with tiny hands. What this means, is that it can you can take as many photos as you like, without making it obvious that you are taking your own photo.

I think this is a big plus. All solo female travellers know that awkward feeling of having strangers stare at you when you are obviously taking your own photo. With this travel tripod, it’s MUCH less obvious what you are doing, allowing you to blend in.

Now, when people ask how you take pictures of yourself for Instagram, you have the perfect answer!

As for battery life, I charge this mini tripod once every few days when I’m travelling, and less when I’m home. In general, expect to be able to take around 50,000 photos between charges.

Charging is done via mini USB, and takes about an hour to go from zero to full power, so no big deal at all.

This selfie stick / mini tripod has changed the way I create travel memories. Now when I come home I have hundreds of beautiful photos, not just a photo album full of awkward selfies.

I highly recommend this mini travel tripod to all backpackers, solo female travellers, and everyone in between. You won’t regret it!
